About R. Leland Waldrip

Leland was born and raised in Mississippi in the vicinity of Memphis, Tennessee, where he stayed busy helping with farm chores when he was not exploring local wildlife habitat. After an early career in sales and a tour in Korea with the U.S. Army he settled in northern Virginia and raised three daughters.

After a full career in sales and computer software engineering, Leland, an American University graduate, extended his writing career to works of fiction. His novel plots have a logic and discipline developed through designing logic for large, complex computer software systems. Vibrant stories of predator and prey, perpetrator and victim, hunter and quarry, are seen from the perspective of a life-long passion for observing people and animals in their native habitat. Whether the novels are set in wilderness, small western town and countryside, or glass, steel and concrete of the city, his characters embroider these unique stories with vivid color and action.

Leland and wife Linda live in their log home near the Rappahannock River in northern Virginia—hunting, fishing, camping, and observing nature on hikes with their four Jack Russell Terriers.
